Support Tiny Egypt

Tiny Egypt is a photographic project exploring small artefacts with a macro lens. I’m working independently on this project and I need your help.

Tiny Egypt is an exploration of the ancient Egyptian world in miniature, which will lead to greater understanding of the objects, people and cultures that have gone before us. All this by exploring small artefacts with a macro lens.

As an independent photographer, I’m working on Tiny Egypt entirely on my own and it’s not easy. I want to pursue this project, but relying just on funding grants means I’m not sure what this project will look like in the end, as each funding body has their own ideas of how my project should be shaped. Bid writing takes a lot of time and has no guarantee of success; I could be spending that time making more photographs and sharing them with you. Tiny Egypt isn’t for the gatekeepers; it’s for you and for me. That’s why I’m asking for your help to work on this project to make it happen.

There are several ways you can support this project, and not all of them involve money. You can:

Join the Tiny Egypt Society

From just £1.00 a month, you can join The Tiny Egypt Society and become a patron of Tiny Egypt with your monthly contribution.

Think of it like supporting someone on Patreon, but without a large chunk of your subscription being siphoned off into platform fees.

Also, the tiers are simple, because I understand that £1.00 can be as much of an outlay to some as £10.00 might be to others. So, no one is cut off from any of the actual members’ content or images; just choose the amount you feel comfortable contributing, and everyone gets to enjoy membership together.

And, you can choose to pay either monthly or annually.

Make a one-off donation

If you don’t want to join the Tiny Egypt Society, but would still like to support the project, you can make a one-off donation instead.

Any contribution – even just a pound – helps, and is greatly appreciated.

If you’re not sure how much to give, here’s a few ideas:

  • ☕ £3 will buy me a hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows to refuel after a day’s photography
  • 😋🍽 £7 will buy me lunch whilst out on a day’s photography
  • 🚗 £15 will fund a day’s travel to get me to and from my photography
  • 🖥 £50 will fund a month’s Adobe subscription so I can process my photos and produce my books
  • 📷 £250 will fund a year’s specialist photography insurance

Please note that one-off donations are for those who don’t want to join the Society, or who would like to make the occasional top-up to their monthly membership. Making a donation using the form below will not grant you access to the member-only content on this site. You need to sign up using one of the monthly or annual options in the section above.

Sign up for my monthly newsletter

Once a month or so, I send out a newsletter to Friends of Tetisheri. It’s a great way to keep up-to-date without having to rely on social media algorithms or remembering to check back here.

If you sign up using the form below, then each month you’ll get:

  • the latest news: what’s been going on with my photography
  • a photo of the month: I have so many photos of artefacts, of people in museums and of heritage in general. Some are already on blog posts or featured in exhibitions, but there are those that are still just squirreled away on my computer. So, you’ll be the first people to see some of them. I also hope I’ll be able to inspire some of you to get out with your cameras and phones a little more and share your photography with me.
  • something that’s inspired me: it’s not all about my stuff, is it. Especially considering I’m not much of a ‘look at me!’ kind of person. So, each month I’ll share with you something I’ve found particuarly interesting or inspiring. It might be an article, a video, a movie, a song or a book. And often it won’t even be about Egyptology (yeah, I know …).
  • a quote: from a photographer or author or all round famous person that’s sparked a feeling in me.

It arrives in your inbox during the weekends, so you (hopefully) have a little time to kick back and enjoy it.

If you’re not sure about gifting me your email address, you can read my past email newsletters before deciding.

Follow me on social media

I’ve pared back my social media presence. Trying to be everywhere whilst juggling Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, neurodiversity and my actual work, is just too distracting. So, although I’m on Facebook and Instagram, I spend most of my social media time on Twitter as I find it to be the most engaging and conversational place to be. If you’re there, come join me!

Visit my online shop

Over on my main site, I have prints, mugs, t-shirts and cushions featuring some of my favourite photos for sale. So, if you like Things, please consider having look around my online shop. If there’s something you want, but don’t have the money yourself, you could perhaps add it to your birthday or Christmas list.

Share posts and pages from this site with your friends

If there’s a blog post or page here you’ve particularly enjoyed, just the mere act of emailing it to a friend or sharing it on your favourite social media site is wonderful for me. It helps me get my work in front of more people who might enjoy it or find it inspiring.

Every blog post has handy buttons at the top and bottom for sharing on social media networks, WhatsApp, Reddit, Pocket and email.
